Constructed from durable FSC Timber the Insect Study Centre features three interactive viewing chambers. TOP CHAMBER - Includes new unique solar attraction light with its own storage batteries (turns on automatically at dusk and off at dawn) The light attracts Moths, Butterflies, Lacewing and other interesting flying insects. Plant material or a sturdy branch can be introduced through the hinged lid. MIDDLE CHAMBER - Features “creepy crawly” viewing tubes. Each tube is set into oak air blocks – a regular haunt of many insects. The hinged front door gives access to this area for interactive viewing. LOWER CHAMBER - Features three interactive trays for Solitary Bee nesting (Red Mason Bee). These bees pollinate fruit, vegetables and flowers and are non aggressive. The trays are easily removable with the wing nuts to allow the monitoring of the developing bee from the egg stage. SITE - To catch the morning sun 1-2 mtrs high.
